Russian Troops Said To Enter Ukraine

In Ukraine, with the president being ousted and new elections being scheduled, the latest development appears to be a Russian invasion of Crimea, a peninsula that is part of Ukraine but has a majority of ethnic Russians.  During the time when Nikita Khrushchev was the leader of the Soviet Union, Crimea was transferred from the Russian S.F.S.R. to the Ukrainian S.S.R.  During the 1850's, a war was fought over Crimea.  Here are a few reports about the alleged Russian presence in Ukraine:

From The Boston Globe, the new Ukrainian government accuses Russia of invading.

From The Washington Post, the Russian activity draws a warning from the American president.

From Haaretz, the Ukrainian ambassador to the U.N. says that Russian helicopters and planes have entered his country.

From BBC News, "Russians" allegedly have occupied two airports in Crimea.

From The Telegraph, more on the warning from President Obama.

From The Globe And Mail, Ukraine pleads for help.
