More Things I Have Learned

This is another list of things I've run across on sites such as Twitter, or have read elsewhere.  As with my first post of this kind, these could be called "other people's musings".  For some of these, I have tried to provide links to some background information.

According to some people:

In a Tweet, Ann Coulter said something like this:  If President Trump's pause on immigration from six Muslim countries is a possible recruiting tool for terrorists, couldn't this also be true of the DNC choosing against electing a Muslim, Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MN), as their chairperson?

There is now a faction of the left which views violence for reasons they agree with as speech, and speech which they don't agree with as violence.

Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus.  She didn't trash the bus.  Big difference.  Her friends boycotted the Montgomery buses.  They didn't block traffic.  Again, big difference.

If you're worried about deportation separating families, please note that when an illegal alien kills someone, he separates that person from his or her family - forever.

I'll just quote this verbatim from a Tweet I once read.  "If the kindest souls were rewarded with the longest lives, dogs would outlive us all."

The same people who complain about Steve Bannon advising President Trump appear to have had no problem with Al Sharpton advising President Obama.

The people applauding Caitlyn Jenner for being "herself" are the same people who told Tim Tebow to keep his religion to himself.  (Now that Caitlyn has reportedly gotten rid of Bruce's original equipment, I guess the term "herself" might finally be appropriate.)

A 45-year-old man dresses like a poor teenager, refers to women as "Ho's", and calls himself "Snoop Dog", but wants us all to believe that President Trump is a clown.

When the hashtag #BeforeTheInternetExisted appeared on Twitter, one Tweet went something like this:  "God said 'Let there be light.'  The first Tweet.  God saw that is was good.  The first like."

George Orwell's novel 1984 was meant as a warning, not a guidebook (or as the link says, a "DIY manual").  

Feminism is the idea that a woman is free and empowered when she serves her employer and a slave when she does something for her husband.

To those who point out that no one needs 30 rounds to shoot a deer, please note that the founders didn't write the 2nd Amendment because the deer were coming.

The same people who complain about Sean Spicer's obviously ill-advised comparison of Assad to Hitler have called Donald Trump "Hitler" and his supporters "nazis" ever since Trump started running for the presidency.

The optimist says the glass is half full.  The pessimist says the glass is half empty.  The scientist says the glass if full - half with water and half with air.  The feminist says that glass is being raped.

The comment by Attorney General Jeff Sessions about a judge on a Pacific island blocking President Trump's executive order on immigration might not have been too swift, but is it really worse than all the things the left says about "Jesusland" or "Dumb[bleep]istan"?

As a prosecutor in Alabama, Sessions bankrupted the klan in that state, yet some left wingers today still call him a racist.

The same liberals who think Russia somehow interfered with the 2016 election seem to have no problem with illegal aliens voting.

Multiculturalism seems to be imposed only on Western countries.  The name "Muhammad" is very popular in London, but how many guys named "Geoffrey", "Trevor" or "Nigel" are there in Cairo, Damascus or Baghdad?

Otto Warmbier has died of whatever was inflicted upon him in North Korea.  Meanwhile, Americans of his age group praise socialism and communism.

According to an old saying, "sacred cows make great hamburgers".  (Mark Twain said something very similar.)

The term "undocumented immigrants" is very misleading.  Many such people do indeed have documents, but they are fake documents, such as fake ID's and fake social security numbers.  Thus, a more accurate term might be "falsely documented immigrants".

John F. Kennedy would have just about no chance of winning the presidential nomination from today's Democratic party.  Considering his opposition to communism and support for tax cuts, today's Democrats would probably kick him out of the party.

If you have children, you've probably heard about, but have never actually met, two of their closest and most mischievous friends, who sometimes visit and make a mess in your house.  As recognized by the comic Family Circus, their names are Not Me and Ida Know.
