Mass Shooting In Las Vegas

Late yesterday in Las Vegas, Nevada, a gunman in a room at the Mandalay Bay hotel opened fire at a nearby country music concert, killing 50 people and injuring at least 400 others.  After police located his room, the suspect, identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, had reportedly killed himself.  Paddock lived in Mesquite, Nevada and appears to have acted alone.  Authorities have not yet determined his motive.

Jazz Shaw at HotAir has been following the story and has relayed some pertinent information.  For example, police located the shooter's room, on the 32nd floor of the hotel, because smoke from the gun(s) set off the room's smoke detectors.  At least 10 guns were found in the room.

UPDATES:  The first five links above now indicate 58 killed and 515 wounded.

David French at National Review calls the shooting "very, very strange".
